About Us
The Cool-Garner Volunteer Fire Department is a small, totally
volunteer fire department. We are located on the west side of Parker County
protecting the area east of the Mineral Wells city limit to Clark Lake Road and
north of Smith Trail to Norman Drive. We operate out of one station located in
Garner on Garner School Road. Our current fleet includes one engine, one
tanker, and two brush trucks. We answer emergencies which include but are not
limited to: any type of fire, smoke investigation, vehicle accidents, medical emergencies, and rescue. Being totally volunteer we are all citizens of the community helping our friends, neighbors, and other citizens in their time of need; however, that
is not to say that all of our members are not qualified. Every member of the
department which responds to emergencies is or is in the process of becoming a
basic fire fighter in accordance with the Texas State Fireman and Fire
Marshal's Association. This is a minimum standard, and many of our members exceed this minimum. In addition to fire and rescue qualifications, every member is also trained in CPR and First Aid through the American Heart Association. We also have a number of members that are emergency medical technicians or emergency care attendants certified through the Texas Department of State Health Services. In August 2012, we became a certified first responder organization which allows us to respond to medical emergencies in the area and provide intial care before the ambulance arrives.
Business meetings are held on the first Monday of every month at 7 PM. Meetings are held at our station in Garner. Anyone wishing to come sit in a meeting, or any person wanting to join CGVFD is encouraged to come to a business meeting. In addition to business meetings, our firefighters train on the second Monday of each month also at 7 PM at our station in Garner. Once again, the public is welcome to attend to see how their fire department operates. Once per quarter, CGVFD trains with other fire departments that we often work with on the west side of Parker County, in an effort to give those we serve the best service possible even when we call on others for assistance.
CGVFD is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to professional customer service. We are proud to be your fire department.
